I'm fascinated by the idea that organisms may have crashed to our planet billions of years ago hitch-hiking on asteroids. This brooch was made in reverence of our squishy little intergalactic ancestors.
This brooch is made of hand-sculpted, blackened, fine silver and set with borosilicate glass "organisms" including an encased white Gilson opal. The encasement protects the opals from regular wear and tear keeping them shining brightly. The silver will tarnish (blacken) and polish (brighten) in relation to how often you wear the brooch, bringing about its own unique appearance. Although rough and craggy looking in appearance, the brooch is very smooth and not sharp at all.
